A ship crashed into the side of this wharf at the crosshead.
Both piles split just below the water level.
The broken portion was wide enough to fit an adult hand.

Holes were drilled to insert packers.
Gap was grouted with a high strength (40MPa) 2-component polyurethane water tolerant resin grout.
Shear connectors were installed above and below the cracked portion.
Additional steel was added to strengthen the broken portion as well as to transfer the load across the weaken section.
All steel bars wer primed with tar epoxy,
HDPE permanent forms customed made for grouting to form new pile.
Gaps grouted with hydraulic cementitious non shrink grout.
